Carla Mendoza is a rising junior at Columbia University studying Political Science and Ethnicity and Race. She is involved with several social justice initiatives and is more specifically interested in putting an end to immigration detention centers. She is interning with the Dilley Pro Bono Project that will be helping families in detention.
When we incarcerate mothers, we incarcerate their families, their dreams and their aspirations for a better life. Detention is not the solution, and we have taken it upon ourselves to help more people understand that.
